The one thing to know before you come: In Ohio, vehicle titles are issued by the County Clerk of Courts, not the BMV. The Akron BMV handles registration, plates, and driver license or ID. If you just bought a vehicle, title it at the Summit County Clerk of Courts first, then register it (plates and sticker) here. See Title transfer in Ohio.

Many passenger registrations can be renewed online at OPLATES.com through the Ohio BMV. In-person is the way to go for transactions that need document verification, plate changes, or anything online renewal will not allow. Our vehicle registration renewal page explains which path fits.
