Three things to check before you come in
A little prep is the difference between one trip and two. Here are hours, what to bring, and what it costs.
Hours, including Saturday
Hours can shift around state holidays and peak periods, so confirm the current schedule before a special trip.
Hours, location & directionsWhat to bring
- REAL ID: proof of legal name and birth date, legal presence, Social Security number, and two proofs of Ohio address from different sources.
- Plate or registration renewal: your renewal notice or current registration, plus proof of insurance.
- License or ID renewal: proof of your identity and address.
What it costs
State fees changed at the start of 2026. Always confirm the current amount before you visit.
See all feesThe one thing to know before you come: In Ohio, vehicle titles are issued by the County Clerk of Courts, not the BMV. The Akron BMV handles registration, plates, and driver license or ID. If you just bought a vehicle, title it at the Summit County Clerk of Courts first, then register it (plates and sticker) here. See BMV vs Clerk of Courts.
